NOTE: Kayaking through Te Apiti – Manawatu Gorge is for experienced kayakers only. 

Te Apiti – Manawatu Gorge is one of only a few places in the world where a river flows from one side of a mountain to the other, instead of from a divide. Experience the unique landscape for yourself!

 

ACCESS

Ashhurst endLocated approximately 15 km east of Palmerston North adjacent to State Highway 3. Turn off the road directly before the bridge past Ashhurst where you will find a small car park by the river.

Woodville Ferry Reserve
Located approximately 8km west of Woodville. Turn off State Highway 3 directly after Gorge Road/Ballance Bridge. Drive down the gravel track to the river.
